Understanding Pro-Rata Billing (and, Why is My First Bill a Bit Extra?)

It’s not as complicated as it sounds, we promise.

If your first Bendigo Telco invoice looks higher than expected, don’t panic; it’s all part of how our billing and pro-rata system works. Let’s break it down 👇

🆕 Starting a new service?

If you’ve just started a new service with us, your first bill might be a tad higher than you’re expecting. That’s because your first invoice includes:

  • A partial charge for the days you used your service between your activation date and the end of that billing month (billed pro-rata), AND

  • A full month’s plan charge in advance (yep, we bill a month ahead).

So, if you joined mid-month, you’ll see a mix of partial and full charges. Your included data and call allowances may also be reduced for that first partial period.

For example:

If your account start date is the 15th of the month, you’ll be charged for the 15th–30th, plus the next full month.

🛑 Cancelling a service?

If you cancel partway through a billing cycle, you’ll only pay for the days you used the service. There’s no charge for any days left of the month after you cancel; we’re fair like that.

🧮 What is pro-rata billing anyway?

It’s a fancy way of saying you only pay for the days your service is active.

Whether you’re starting or ending a plan mid-month, we calculate your charges based on actual usage.
